FAQ

Travelling in a wheelchair

The lower funicular is adapted to accommodate people with disabilities as far as Molkenkur station. There are lifts with open hydraulic ramps at the Kornmarkt and Molkenkur stations, which should only be used by people in wheelchairs for safety reasons. We offer the loan of a wheelchair for passengers with restricted mobility travelling on the lower funicular. Just ask staff at the stations.

We recommend that wheelchair users only ride on the upper funicular if accompanied by a carer because we have not been able to provide a wheelchair lift for the upper funicular railway for reasons of historic preservation, and it will be necessary to negotiate steps.

Under this link you will find more information about the individual dimensions and the accessibility of the Heidelberg cable cars (only in German).

Pushchairs on the funicular railway

Unfortunately you may not use our lifts to transport pushchairs for safety reasons. Our conductors will be happy to help unaccompanied visitors to carry pushchairs up the steps to board the funicular railway cars. We suggest that you use a buggy if you are travelling with infants.

Please also note that the upper funicular is relatively narrow, and larger pushchairs may therefore not fit in the cars.
