Annual ticket for the Heidelberger Bergbahnen

From November 1, 2023, the Heidelberger Bergbahnen are offering an annual ticket for travel on the funicular railways to Molkenkur and Königstuhl. “The annual ticket is a new offer that will particularly benefit frequent travelers, hiking enthusiasts and local residents,” says Patrick Jelinek, division manager at Heidelberger Straßen- und Bergbahn GmbH (HSB).

“One reason for offering the new annual ticket is that with the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, the recognition of public transport annual tickets is unfortunately no longer possible,” adds Klaus Harthausen, department head at HSB. This meant that their owners no longer had the opportunity to use the funicular railways free of charge through a recognition scheme. The nationwide tariff regulations for the Deutschlandticket expressly exclude tourist and historical means of transport such as the Heidelberger Bergbahnen. “In particular, day-trippers from the region and local residents were at a disadvantage. It was important to us to offer them the opportunity to take the funicular railways to Königstuhl again at affordable annual prices,” emphasizes Patrick Jelinek. Entrance to the castle is not included in the annual ticket.
Discount rules and ordering
The annual ticket is issued to a person and costs 98 euros, reduced price 65 euros. Children aged 6 to 14 inclusive, pupils, students and trainees up to 28 years of age, people in the federal voluntary service, in the social or ecological year as well as those doing voluntary military service, people with a degree of disability of 50 or more and holders of the Heidelberg Pass/ Heidelberg Pass+ from the city of Heidelberg. The annual ticket can be applied for using an order form, available at the Bergbahn ticket offices and on www.bergbahn-heidelberg.de under Booking funicular tickets.
